Pear Records privacy notice
What this site does
Pear Records radio is a demo listening room: it plays records from the shop's shelves through YouTube's own player, and shows what's on the shelf.
What we collect
- Listening collects nothing about you. No accounts, no sign-up, no analytics, no advertising tools. When a record plays or goes in a bag, the site adds one to that record's count for the day, so the shop can see which records people like. The count says which record, never who: nothing about you or your device is stored with it. While you listen, the page checks in with the shop about every half minute so everyone hears the same record; that's how we show how many people are listening, and it isn't stored.
- Hosting logs. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may keep standard access logs (IP address, time and page requested) for security and fault-finding, for a short period.
- Your browser's storage. The site remembers on your device that you've agreed to load the YouTube player, so you aren't asked every visit. This stays in your browser.
- Share links point to a record, nothing about you.
- Buying a record (Pay & collect). Payments are taken by Stripe: when you tap Pay & collect, Stripe's payment form loads inside the page (it may set cookies it needs to prevent fraud). Card details go to Stripe only and are never seen by Pear Records or Cloud Circus. For each order we keep your name, phone number, email, what you bought and when, and your postal address if you choose delivery, so Pear Records can hold it behind the counter or post it to you, and text you about it. Pear Records' staff can see these on the shop desk. We delete your name, phone, email and address from our system 30 days after the order is collected, posted or refunded; Stripe and Pear Records keep the payment record for as long as the law requires for accounts. The legal basis is the contract you make when you buy. To stop a would-be buyer holding all the stock, we keep a scrambled tag of your internet address with an open checkout; it's deleted with the order details. Stripe's privacy notice: stripe.com/gb/privacy.
- Your bag is saved in your own browser until you check out, so it's still there if you come back. If you reserve a record, your name and number are remembered in your browser too, to save typing next time.
- Reserving a record (pay in the shop). We keep your name, mobile number and what you reserved so Pear Records can put it aside and text you. No card details are taken. They're deleted 30 days after you collect it or the reservation ends.
YouTube
The player only loads after you tap Load the player. We use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), but once a track plays, YouTube may still set cookies or similar technologies and collect information about your viewing, under Google's own terms.
This site uses YouTube API Services. By using the player you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google handles data under the Google Privacy Policy. You can manage YouTube's access to your data at Google security settings.
To withdraw your agreement, clear this site's data in your browser settings. The player then won't load until you agree again.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. Apart from Pay & collect orders, we don't keep personal records, there's usually very little to find, but we'll check if you ask.
Contact: Cloud Circus, 17 Finkle Street, Knaresborough HG5 8AA, or ask in the shop.
